WASHINGTON, January 8, 2018 – The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) today announced its 2018 chapter award recipients and 2019 chapter presidents.
The AG Bell chapter awards measure important aspects of the Healthy Chapter Program Initiative and Action Plan (H.C.A.P.). Chapters earn points for performance that meets or exceeds guidelines outlined in the H.C.A.P. The “Chapter of the Year” award is presented to the top performing chapter(s), as measured by H.C.A.P. scores in areas such as programming, governance, advocacy and membership.
AG Bell Virginia, led by Chapter President Lori Bobsin, was named “2018 Chapter of the Year.” The Virginia chapter also received the Innovate Award for their outstanding achievements in the Healthy Chapter Program.
AG Bell Connecticut, led by Chapter President Jessica Hasbrouck, received the Best Programming Award for its diverse and innovative formats. Jessica was also named 2018 Chapter President of the Year.
“In 2018, AG Bell’s 41 chapters operated at a heightened level within the newly-implemented Healthy Chapter Program and maintained consistent outreach to their members and beyond, helping to expand their footprint and visibility within their local communities,” said Lisa McBee-Granados, AG Bell chapter relations manager. “We thank every one of our dedicated volunteers who work every day to ensure people who are deaf and hard of hearing can hear and talk.”
